It All Started with a Bougie Diffuser

So a year ago my girlfriend, Chelsea sold me some oils.  I had dabbled in them a few times before, but never really understood what I'd refer to as "the oil trend" - so cringey to say, I know.

Anyways, she had the Aria diffuser (see photo) and I really just wanted to be that bougie housewife that had a sweet diffuser.  My addiction to diffusing trendy candle scents became a real thing and before you knew it my collection of oils was extensive.

I never really saw Young Living as anything more than "an oil company" & honestly, the using oils for other issues was overwhelming and too much for me to figure out.

With that said, over the last year I've watched Chelsea and members of her oily tribe post about the other products Young Living offers and the "cleanness" of them.  I had no idea so many of the products that I use on a daily basis are actually filled with so many toxins.  The products Young Living uses are all clean, free from toxins and safe for everyone in your house.  Encouraging you to ditch and switch was something that they had put out there a few times.

It all sounds great, but honestly, it's also incredibly overwhelming - especially when you have four kids and you're in the midst of a pandemic.  I don't know about you but when we were nearing shut down I STOCKED up on Clorox wipes - and y'all I mean I stocked up, I was that crazy lady at Target preparing for the apocalypse. I'm not throwing all of that money away because I want to change up what I'm using.

So my internal struggle began, I know there are better safe products, but I'm continuing not to use them because I'm too cheap? Am I bad mom? Y'all that mom guilt is a REAL thing.

If you've been around here for a minute, you know we've been on quite the journey the last 2.5+ years with Oscar's EOE.  His last scope wasn't the results we had hoped for and we're beginning the journey of an elimination diet (topic for another blog when I get the courage to write it).

Anyways.. as I was doing more research on EOE, more and more was coming up about environmental factors potentially impacting EOE.  Unfortunately, there is SO much unknown about EOE since it's such a new disease.  Regardless, the statement that environmental toxins may impact EOE was enough for me to know that I needed to start making some serious changes around our house.

Oscar is really sick, I know he doesn't appear sick, but our current situation is really not great and we're sort of at an impasse where things have to start getting better quickly or we're going to be dealing with some really yucky things.  So I'm all in on anything and everything that can potentially make him better.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I wanted to invite you to join me on this journey.  I think for so long I thought I had to clean everything out, throw it all away and start fresh.  But let's be honest that's not realistic from a financial standpoint & for me its so overwhelming that I just shut down because I have no idea where to go.

So slowly, overtime I'm going to be making small changes to the products were using to hopefully make our home a safer place for not just Oscar, but for all of us.

I legit know nothing, but I have some super smart friends who know a lot and are going to help me figure it all out.

Hopefully you'll follow along as I keep you posted.  And if you're ever intrigued about being safer or just looking for bougie diffuser and some safer candle smells - give me a holler - I'm happy to help you out.

XO
